Kicking off its 2015 Christmas season, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints presented “What Would I Give?” with award-winning LDS singer/song writer Wayne Burton. The two-night concerts left Hong Kong audiences with a sense of the spirit, peace, joy, and fun of the Christmas season.
Joining Wayne Burton were soloists and groups from the greater Hong Kong area, including local perennial favorite Songs of the Heart, children’s Show Choir groups from Tai Po and Kowloon Tong, the BYU-Hawaii Concert Choir--HK Chapter, and soloists Leah Cerbolles and Floyd Ko. At one point in the Saturday concert, young missionaries emerged from the audience singing “Silent Night,” considered by many to be a highlight of the evening.
Community leaders and those from other faiths, participating with the Church in providing fleece blankets to the elderly, were invited to a special pre-concert dinner. The Church’s December theme in Hong Kong is “Blanketing Hong Kong with Christmas Warmth.” Blankets will be prepared at three special service projects in various locations on December 12th for distribution to the elderly and the poor.
