2026 Asia Women’s Conference in Hong Kong Strengthens Bonds of Sisterhood

Across every stage of life – whether single, married, or widowed – and in every role as daughters, sisters, wives, mothers and grandmothers, women everywhere seek to be nourished, inspired and uplifted. Latter-day Saint women are no exception. The Asia Women’s Conference, held annually in Hong Kong by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, offers many of them exactly that opportunity.

From March 5–7, 2026, more than 160 Latter-day Saint sisters from around the world currently residing in Asia gathered in Hong Kong for this year’s Asia Women’s Conference. They cherished the opportunity to learn, connect, grow and rejoice together.

Sister Bonnie H. Cordon, president of Southern Virginia University and former Young Women General President of the Church, came to support in person as the keynote speaker. Many were touched by her testimony and spiritual strength.

Sister Cordon affirmed that women play a vital, divinely appointed role in God’s work and are deeply loved by Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Through stories, scripture, and personal experiences, she taught the importance of recognizing the Savior’s presence in daily life, relying on the Holy Ghost for discernment in increasingly confusing times, and centering life on Christ through sincere prayer and continual repentance.

“One invitation, one prayer, one text, one Christlike act—those things change lives,” she reminded the audience. “Come unto Christ—and do not come alone.”

This invitation resonated with this year’s conference theme – “Lord, what wilt Thou have me do?” (Acts 9:6). Over three days, participants enjoyed keynote addresses, musical numbers, hands-on service, a temple trip and a variety of classes centered on Christian discipleship, personal development, education and family.

For some, this was their first time attending, while others returned with joy to experience the conference once again.

Esther Chow from Hong Kong, who has attended since the inaugural 2008 conference, shared:

“[This] is the place where I could recharge myself…[and be] reminded of my own worth as a woman,” she said. “I enjoy that I can learn and contribute myself at the same time. I enjoy the workshops very much. I also love seeing the sisters share their talents to uplift one another. I enjoy the pure sisterhood which is from many different cultures.”

Nicki Hinton, an American living in Taiwan and one of the presenters, drew on her background in exercise science to teach about spiritual growth through fitness principles.

She said, “The goal of my class was to help them in deepening their relationship with their Savior. He is always the answer and the reason behind why we do what we do. I wanted to give them encouragement to keep going and to also know that He loves them and is aware of them and their needs.”

First‑time attendee Evelyn Pieper, from the United States and living in India, shared, “Their examples touched me the most. I was moved by the spiritual enrichment and by being surrounded by women who love God and want to serve Him.”

Formed in 2008 by a group of devoted Latter-day Saint sisters, the Asia Women’s Conference has been held nearly every year since, with the exception of the COVID years. It provides women of faith a platform to build friendships, learn from one another and unite in service. While the content is designed for members of the Church, women of all backgrounds are warmly welcomed.

Danielle Lesser, originally from the U.S. and now living in Singapore, has chaired the conference since 2019. She said witnessing miracles has been the best part of organizing the event.

“Every year we talk to sisters who come with very specific needs and find answers in the given presentations or keynote speakers,” she shared. “We of course always have crazy unexpected cancellations that puts our faith to the test.  The answers have always come by way of miracles that clearly show us the divine hand of God.  These challenges help us know that God had a different plan, but He needed us to be in motion, so He could do His will through us later in the process.”

Sisters from Hong Kong, mainland China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan, and the United States were among those in attendance. Despite coming from diverse backgrounds and cultures, the sisters were able to build friendships quickly through their shared faith in Jesus Christ. As they reflected on discipleship and personal purpose, they ministered to one another, ate, laughed and shed tears together. As they parted, they embraced in love and mutual understanding, strengthened by the bonds they had formed.

In his closing remarks, Elder David L. Buckner of the Asia Area Presidency prompted a question, “After time together, now therefore what? What do you do going home?”

Drawing from the Savior’s teachings to the ancient apostles, Elder Buckner invited the sisters to deepen their commitment to the Lord, “My admonition to each of us today when we say, ‘Now, therefore what?’ is this: Do not leave this conference unchanged. Do not simply go back to the familiar. Turn to Him, changed and be greater than you were yesterday.”
