Primary and Young Women Leaders Visit Hong Kong

Sister Cheryl A. Esplin, first counselor in the Primary general presidency, and Sister Neill F. Marriott, second counselor in the Young Women general presidency, visited Hong Kong on their way to strengthen members and friends of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout Asia. Taking the opportunity to speak to a capacity crowd of girls, young women, and women at a Sunday evening devotional in Wanchai on Hong Kong Island, they talked about the need to strengthen each other, to lend a hand, and to put the Lord first.

Sister Esplin said, “We need each other. We come from different circumstances and countries. We speak different languages but we are the same in things that matter most. We are daughters of Heavenly Father, so we are sisters. We are here to gather and strengthen each other.”

For her part, Sister Marriott bore her testimony about the reality and blessings of the gospel of Jesus Christ. When asked in an earlier interview what she would say to the young women of Hong Kong who might look ahead and see uncertainty, she said, “When we learn to put the Lord first, everything else just works out.” She also discussed the Church’s focus on Sabbath Day observance, and how honoring the Sabbath Day can help us put the Lord first and gain His help in our lives.
